8 Week MBCT Program

Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is an evidence-based group therapy for preventing depressive relapse and treating mood disorders. It reduces depression, anxiety and stress.

Mindfulness is a non-judgmental way of paying attention to the present moment. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is designed to bring awareness to the habitual negative thinking that leads to depressive and anxious spirals. Combined, MBCT interrupts how we habitually react to situations, so we can choose to respond in more skillful ways.

Research has demonstrated MBCT is as effective as antidepressants in the prevention of depressive relapse or recurrence. Kuyken, 2008 (https://www.mbct.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/kuyken-jccp-2008.pdf)

Participants Will Learn:

Skills and practices to manage depression, anxiety and prevent relapse. By learning to identify the triggers and symptoms of anxiety and depression, participants can effectively address these issues as they arise in everyday life, allowing for skillful intervention before mood symptoms and negative thought patterns become more severe.

Who Should Attend:

Individuals experiencing moderate anxiety or depression and people with a history of depression.

Fees include course handouts and guided meditations.

Workshop Info: 8 Weeks. In Person at Mindfulness at Centrepointe. Program includes a 3.5 hour silent retreat.

Covered by most 3rd party health insurance under Occupational Therapy, Registered Psychotherapist or Social Work. Please inquire about sliding-scale if needed. Receipts are offered for insurance coverage by extended health insurance. Please check with your insurance plan before registering for the course if you plan to seek reimbursement.

Cancellation Policy: A 100% refund will be issued for cancellation requests received up to one week before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $150 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received up to 3 days before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $300 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received after the first class. No refunds will be issued after that time.
