Mindfulness for Adult ADHD (MAPs)
Lead by Karen Sutherland MSW, RSW & Sue Top R.P., M.Ed, C.C.C
The Mindful Awareness Practices (MAPs) for Adults with ADHD program offers mindfulness training specifically tailored to adults with ADHD.
This 8-week training is based on the proven methods of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), supplemented by elements from acceptance-based therapies and ADHD-specific psychosocial approaches. The program was developed at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) by Dr. Lidia Zylowska and Dr. John T. Mitchell.
Adults with ADHD often experience challenges such as rapid loss of focus, emotional dysregulation, and increased stress. MAPs aim to sharpen attention and improve self-awareness, which can lead to better management of these symptoms. Scientifically proven benefits include improved concentration, increased emotional self-regulation, and strengthened self-esteem.
