Mindful Self-Compassion Program

The SC-MSC program draws on mindfulness skills and focuses on developing the resource of self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional resilience and well-being. Growing research suggests that self-compassion is strongly associated with emotional well-being, coping with life challenges, lower levels of anxiety and depression, healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and more satisfying personal relationships. It is an inner strength that enables us to be more fully human and authentically ourselves.

The program includes short talks, experiential exercises, group discussions, and informal home practice. SC-MSC is an opportunity to explore how we typically respond when difficulties arise and learn tools for becoming warm and supportive companions to ourselves.

Here are some of the themes that will be explored:

  • What is self-compassion?

  • What is mindfulness?

  • Exploring resistance

  • The physiology of self-compassion

  • Backdraft

  • Self-compassion and self-esteem

  • Self-criticism and safety

  • Motivating ourselves with compassion

  • Strategies for working with difficult emotions

  • Caregiver/manager fatigue

  • Core Values & intention setting

  • Self-compassion skills and tools to draw upon when you need it most.

Anyone can learn self-compassion; you don't need prior meditation or mindfulness experience. All are welcome!

Cancellation Policy: A 100% refund will be issued for cancellation requests received up to one week before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $150 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received up to 3 days before the start of class.

A refund (minus a $300 processing fee plus HST) will be issued for cancellation requests received after the first class. No refunds will be issued after that time.
