Carole Trépanier

M.A., MBSR CFM, Teacher

I am a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor that has completed training through the Oasis Institute, Centre for Mindfulness (CFM), University of Massachusetts Medical School. This qualification includes trainings with Jon Kabat-Zinn, Saki Santorelli, Florence Meleo-Meyer, and other first-generation MBSR teachers.

Additionally, I have received trauma-informed mindfulness meditation training from Willoughby Britton and David Treleaven and I continue to receive ongoing supervision, guidance and mentorship from senior teachers Lynn Koerbel, Judson Brewer, Bob Stahl and Caroline West.

In addition to MBSR practice and teaching, I have 25 years of meditation experience and I have completed several long silent meditation retreats.

I graduated magna cum laude in psychology at the University of Ottawa and continued my studies within the research stream at the Master and Doctoral level studying the effects of the MBSR protocol on brain structure and function. Subsequently, I transitioned into the Master of Arts degree in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality at Saint Paul University.

Professionally, I work in private practice as a mental health practitioner and counsellor. My belief is that when one is met with genuine empathy, respect and support, the human spirit can thrive in the face of adversity and challenging life events. Indeed adversity might even be understood and reframed as an opportunity for tremendous inner and outer growth. The underlying constant in my gentle and joyful therapeutic and teaching approaches is my unwavering presence with clients and students alike as we work together to foster the necessary attitudes, perceptions and conditions for wellbeing, happiness and deep inner peace.
