4 Week Mobility and Spine Hygiene Course & Drop Ins
4-Week Mindful Mobility & Spinal Hygiene Course
This four-week progressive mobility course is designed to help participants move more freely, understand their bodies better, and develop practical movement habits they can incorporate into everyday life.
Each 60-minute class combines education, mindful movement, mobility work, spinal hygiene, and guided self-care techniques. Participants will learn not only what movements they can use, but also how to recognize areas of restriction or tension and choose strategies that work for their individual bodies.
The course progresses week to week, allowing participants to build on what they have learned while developing a simple and sustainable personal mobility practice. Each class will also function as a standalone session, so participants are welcome to attend individual drop-in classes without needing to have completed previous weeks.
Participants will leave each session with simple take-home strategies and movements they can practice between classes. Various self-care tools, including foam rollers and mobility balls, will also be incorporated throughout the course.
Week 1 – Foundations of Mobility & Spinal Hygiene
Focus: Awareness, breathing, the spine, and foundational movement
Participants will be introduced to the principles of mobility, mindful movement, and spinal hygiene. We will explore the difference between flexibility and mobility, how regular movement supports joint health, and how awareness of breathing, posture, and movement can influence how the body feels and functions.
Objective: Establish a simple foundation for daily movement and begin developing greater awareness of how the body moves and feels.
Week 2 – Moving From the Ground Up
Focus: Feet, ankles, hips, and the lower body
Week two explores how the body functions as an interconnected system. We will focus on mobility and control through the feet, ankles, hips, and lower body while examining how restrictions in one area can influence movement elsewhere.
Participants will also begin learning how to assess their own movement and identify areas that may benefit from additional attention.
Objective: Improve lower-body mobility and help participants better understand how movement at the hips, ankles, and feet contributes to comfortable whole-body movement.
Week 3 – Upper Body Freedom
Focus: Thoracic spine, shoulders, neck, and posture
Week three shifts our attention to the upper body. Participants will explore movement through the mid-back, shoulders, rib cage, and neck, with particular consideration for the positions and movement habits associated with work, technology, and everyday life.
Breathing, posture, and self-care techniques will be incorporated to help participants develop strategies for managing common areas of stiffness and tension.
Objective: Develop greater upper-body mobility and awareness while providing practical strategies participants can use throughout their day.
Week 4 – Putting It All Together
Focus: Full-body integration and creating a personal mobility practice
The final week brings the concepts from the course together into a full-body mobility practice. Participants will learn how to check in with their bodies, recognize what may need attention, and select appropriate movement or self-care strategies.
Rather than relying on one rigid routine, the goal is to give participants a toolkit they can adapt based on how their body feels and what they need that day.
Objective: Give participants the knowledge and confidence to continue a simple, sustainable mobility and spinal hygiene practice beyond the four-week course.
Course Takeaways
By the end of the course, participants will have a better understanding of mobility and spinal hygiene, increased awareness of their own movement patterns, experience using simple self-care tools and techniques, and a practical collection of movements they can continue using at home. The overall goal is not to move perfectly or become exceptionally flexible. It is to help people move regularly, move intentionally, and feel more confident caring for their bodies.
